Hi Beth!

I made the "durable denim tote" in about an hour (from cutting out the fabric to finished product.) I found the instructions pretty accurate; only the handle instructions were difficult to understand (I do better with pictures!) I knew my machine wouldn't handle the multiple thicknesses of attaching the doubled-over handle to the bag so I put a floral edging around the top and used topstitching to secure the handle.

I'd submit a picture but my digital camera is kaput. Anyway, it's very cute and I've used it lots of times already...just not for shopping! Of course, the fabrics and thread all came from garage sales. I have more of the heavy denim left so I'm looking forward to making more bags when my schedule permits.

I've been missing seeing you and the ladies. I hope to be finished with the house project by Saturday. Thanks for being a good woman! Linda Mc

This was encouraging! Thanks for sharing. I am so often reminded of how my flesh does not depend on God but how much I need to each moment!

BTW Thanks also for sharing your tips on cloth diapering. We are expecting a little one soon and are looking forward to using cloth. The tips are helpful. We are using prefolds and I am glad to hear you have had good sucess with them. Now I am starting to think about pocket diapers :)

Hey there! I was referred to your blog by your post at Keeper of the Home. I thought I'd comment on this post, since my husband is a chemical engineer by education and a petroleum engineer by trade. Ethanol hype really gets under his skin because, as Courtney points out, petroleum is used at every stage of production and because it is too expensive to produce. Ethanol is not an economically viable or enivironmentally friendly alternative to gasoline. It seems that much of the ethanol propaganda is just political. It's too bad. We'd love to see a green fuel (and my husband has dreamed of working in the alternative energy sector of his company). Oh, and yes, we feel the cognitive dissonance of getting our paycheck from big oil and, at home, doing everything we can to reuse, reduce, and recycle. I completely agree with your stewardship perspective on environmental concerns. We're with you 100%

VERY interesting! We live only 15 miles from a new ethanol plant that is going bankrupt... failing miserably. I appreciate your thoughts and will have my husband read this, too. btw, I found you at Keeper of the Home. Nice post there, too!
